New Year Moon
The New Year energy for 2024 heralds a quantum shift in human consciousness. 2024 is the year of Saturn who sits in his auspicious home of Aquarius in the star constellation or nakshatra, Shattibisak, she who surrounds herself with 100 healers. Saturn is very strong here and he is in the sign of the humanitarian. What message does Saturn bring us? He slows us down to feel the truth. He demands focus on details, discipline, delayed gratification, small acts of kindness with compassion for the world at large. Saturn is the planet of the masses. What is best for humanity. Aquarius is the visionary who brings salvation, new innovations. Ideas to solve difficult issues and these solutions are bottom up rather than top down. New healthy ways of farming, clean energy, reduced waste, balanced economies, governments for the people and opportunities for all.
The Moon on 1.1.24 carries a dual message of the nakshatra Magha, the magnificent in Leo ruled by the Sun which is our heart and Uttara Phalguni in Virgo, ruled by Mercury.
Magha is symbolized by the empty throne awaiting us to step into it. What is holding us back from manifesting sovereignty? Magha is ruled by the south node of the Moon, Ketu and Ketu is currently transiting Virgo in the nakshatra, Chitra which represents maya or illusion. Ketu is a deep sign of inner freedom. He takes things away. Our illusions are being removed. The glittering palaces of Chitra, the divine architect are being brought down. What are the illusions that create suffering in this world? The illusion of separation. The false differences we project between color, creed, culture, country, economic achievement, education. These have held humanity in conflict. This is not to say that we are not all unique and entitled to personal flowering, but the challenge is to find the common thread that bind us.
Uttara Phalguni in Virgo is she who reaches for the highest fruit while reclining on a chaise lounge being fed grapes. What does this signify? It signifies abundance that flows from life itself when we let go. Uttara Phalguni is also the philanthropist who is generous with others and has a focus on perfection in small matters. A beautiful way to summarize this is the power of small acts of kindness. We could take this further to mean, acts that benefit our local communities, that have a global impact.
Virgo and Aquarius have a relationship in that they both embody the Divine Feminine. Virgo is the Virgin Goddess who arrives at the shore with the two most important things for humanity, a sheath of grain and a flame, or food and fuel, our two of our biggest issues planetarily.
Aquarius is also an agrarian symbol of young woman carrying her kumba or pot to the well. As she pours from her pot she pours ideas not water, ideas that spread and bring solutions.
The feminine energy of both these signs align with the heart focus of Magha in Leo. Compassion, small local acts of kindness, unity of humanity are all primary messages to carry forward in 2024.
Also, Monday the great Jupiter went direct in Aswini, the nakshatra of healing and new beginnings in Aries. Jupiter is Guru and now his energy is moving forward.
And finally, today, Mercury is also going direct in Scorpio, on his way to Sagittarius. Expect things to move forward with greater ease now. Enjoy this auspicious week!
